Implementation Plan for the Deployment of Precision Technology and Aquifer Monitoring at the CRCC

WIDHOC held a seminar on the use of the website and equipment components for the “Implementation Project for the Deployment of Precision Technology and Aquifer Monitoring at the CRCC in the Cartagena area”

The training session provided to farmers by the CRCC is part of the sensor installation project in the Campo de Cartagena region, which WIDHOC and INAM are developing for the Regional Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and the Environment.

Dr. María Manchado, a sales representative, and project manager Félix Pérez, both from WIDHOC, explained to the community members how the website set up by the CRCC works, how to interpret the graphs and data displayed, and how the various sensors that make up the D-WIDE data logger function.

The user interface and its various sections were also explained: volumetric moisture and electrical conductivity are the most important, and they are tailored to the soil analyses that have been conducted previously.

Other information provided by the user dashboard includes the geolocation of each sensor and a weather forecast to avoid unnecessary watering when rain is expected.

The farmers had their questions answered during the Q&A session and were informed that by installing a flow meter on their irrigation head, along with the equipment provided to them at no cost by the CRCC, they will comply with current regulations regarding the protection of the Mar Menor.

This project is 80% funded by ERDF funds and 20% by CARM funds.
